Peaches Teaches

Merrill Beth Nisker
, better known as Peaches, is an electronica musician. Her songs are mainly concerned with sex. She lives and works in Berlin. Before she became "Peaches", she was an elementary school music and drama teacher. She plays almost all the instruments for her songs, programs her own electronic beats and produces her records.

Peaches' music is preoccupied with gender identity, and she often genderfucks. Her lyrics and live shows self-consciously blur the distinction between male and female; she appears on the cover of her album Fatherfucker with a full beard.

They are currently on tour, check them out here.

The line-up is completed by ex-Courtney Love guitarist Radio Sloan and JD Samson from Le Tigre on keytar and sequencing. This marks the first band Peaches has ever performed with and with this all-girl onslaught, the Peaches live experience will be stepped up even more – if that’s possible.

The Entrance of Shikari

Enter Shikari are an English post-hardcore band, which makes heavy use of synthesised sound effects. The band has managed to gain some success within the music industry despite turning down offers from many of the large record companies, and instead deciding to 'go it alone' signed to their own independent record label Ambush Reality, with assistance from their distributor Vital

Although some of the band's early shows were poorly received, the band soon gained a large fan base due to their frequent gigging and publicity using their MySpace page. Enter Shikari have performed over 650 gigs to date.

This band was introduced to me by someone very special overseas, since I love techno and metal they are perfect. If you are wondering what 'Shikari' means, it is 'hunter' in many eastern languages.

BE is Pain of Salvation's fifth studio album, released by InsideOutMusic in September 2004. It is a concept album focusing on the existence of God and humankind. BE attempts to explore the many facets of human existence.

Pain of Salvation is not on tour at the moment. And if you are from the good ol' USA you'll have to fly overseas to see them because they don't tour here (due to fingerprinting requirements and such). Since you can't see them live, check this out. Probably one of the best (most accurate) live performances I've seen.

Daft Punks

Daft Punk is the collective name of Paris house musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. The duo is considered one of the most successful electronic music collaborations of all time, both in album sales and in critical acclaim. Daft Punk are noted for their use of visual components associated with their musical productions.

They recently preformed at the 2007 Lollapalooza, where they put on a show to be remembered. Some of this event can be seen here. "But during the French dance-funk duo's 90-minute set -- a particularly throbbing, beat-heavy, rave-tastic, building-to-a-climax part of it -- I closed my eyes and suddenly felt the music wash over me, permeate my brain and take over my body."- Annie Zaleski

Manly Men

Man Man
is a playfully existential Viking-vaudeville punk-wop rock-and-soul collective from Philadelphia. Man Man is known for their distinctive live shows where the members of the band dress in white outfits and don war paint. Man Man is known for their multi instrumental style that centers on the keyboard of Honus Honus and a revolving door of instruments played by the rest of the band.

Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/wearemanman
Official: http://www.wearemanman.com/

Man Man is currently in the process of making their third cd. Here, soundtracked by previews from the new album, the band in their humble Philly apartment, goes crazy on bikes (ghostriding!!), talks about the music... and then there's all that fireworks and bathtub dog stuff.

I was introduced to Man Man by two very special girls in my life and I've never been the same. Their music is like nothing you've ever heard before, and if you can stand it for the first 2 minutes then you'll fall in love soon after. If you fall in love you'll probably go out and buy all their stuff, check it out.

They will be back on tour soon in the US.

Mindlessly Self Indulged

Mindless Self Indulgence (commonly referred to as MSI) is is a NYC based co-ed punk band whose name manifests itself during their incendiary live shows. MSI's music is a hybrid of Atari driven electronics with a venomous splash of A.D.D Punk Rock, with a heavy punk and hip-hop influence. They describe their music as "industrial jungle pussy punk".

This summer, Mindless Self Indulgence are headlining the second stage at this years Projekt Revolution! MSI opted to headline the Revolution Stage and play longer instead of playing on the bigger stage (to more people, and for less time). In addition to fan favorites, the band will be performing new material from their upcoming record, and preparing for the September 11th release of their first ever DVD, "Our Pain, Your Gain."

This band has not only forever changed the face of the music industry but has also forever changed my life. This song used to be offered on their official website, perhaps 2 years ago or more, but is no longer offered. Listen to it 2 times and I gaurentee you'll enjoy it.

They will also be back on tour throughout Europe this October. Dates can be found here.
